Day 1 ~ Arrival
Private Transfer to Xandari Resort – (approx. 25 minutes) – A gorgeous boutique hotel in the central valley. Enjoy amazing central valley views, the twinkling lights of the city below and the stars above. You will love this artistic property, a perfect start to your trip.

Day 2 ~ Alajuela ~ (B,L)
Private Tour – Poas Volcano, Doka Coffee Estate & La Paz Waterfall Gardens – Your private tour guide will pick you up early in the morning to begin your day. As we ascend towards the Poás Volcano we will notice the change in temperature and vegetation; we will see coffee plantations as well as fern, flower and strawberry farms along the way, creating a beautiful landscape.
On the way to the volcano we will visit Doka Coffee Estate for a delicious breakfast and a coffee tour, in an actual coffee plantation where we will learn about the ancient techniques used by the experts to produce one of the best coffees in Costa Rica. Learn about the careful process involved on the cultivation, harvesting and roasting of the Golden Bean.
After the coffee tour we will continue to Poás Volcano where we will not only admire the impressive main crater with its sulfur fumaroles, but also learn about the different ecosystems in this beautiful national park.
Following the visit to the volcano we will continue to La Paz Water Fall Garden for lunch and a tour on the extensive trails. On arrival to the La Paz, we will walk through a trail leading to a spectacular waterfall in the middle of the rainforest. Inside the park we will also visit the hummingbird gallery, the serpentarium, the bird house, the butterfly garden and the frog’s exhibit.
Day 3 ~ Alajuela ~ Tortuguero ~ (B,L,D)
White Water Rafting on the Pacuare River – Connoisseur White Glove Service – The Pacuare River is rated one of the top rivers in the world. You’ll experience the intimate nature of the rainforest via the river. The warm water, cascading waterfalls, and opulently lush rainforest with its brilliantly colored plants, animals, and birds make this trip exquisite for your senses.
Located on Costa Rica’s Atlantic slope, the Pacuare River borders the Talamanca mountain range, home to native Cabecar Indians and an incredible variety of wildlife, including parrots, toucans, deer, jaguars, ocelots, monkeys, butterflies, and more. Add in the exciting Class III -IV whitewater rapids and you have a tropical adventure packed with rich experiences that last long after you’ve returned home.

Day 4 ~ Tortuguero ~ (B,L,D)
Private Tour – Natural history boat excursion – guided – AM / PM – A boat ride through the canals of Tortuguero is trip you will never forget. Your private guide will educate you in the complexity of the area and you will come away with a deeper understanding of how these wetlands work and are an important eco-system here in Costa Rica Tour time will be setup directly with the lodge upon arrival.
Private Tour – White Glove Turtle Tour – Just you and our expert guide will discover a turtle coming out of the ocean. You’ll sit with her as she digs her nest, lays her eggs, and returns to the ocean. It’s a fascinating part of her lifetime adventure described below…
You’ll depart Tortuga Lodge at approximately 5:00 PM. Come dressed in dark clothing so as not to be visible when walking the beach searching for a nesting turtle. Your guide will take you south towards the Jaloba Ranger Station for Tortuguero National Park. On the way your guide will stop so you can take in the sights – as many creatures make their way to their homes for the night and others begin to wake and forage. As you arrive at the Jaloba Station, your staff has prepared a barbecue on the bank of the Jaloba River. An elegant living room awaits right on the grass. You can share a bottle of champagne or the drinks of your choice with hors d’oeuvres. Linger as long as your group likes.
After dinner, your private guide will take you on a 10 minute boat ride to the mouth of the Jaloba River where you will disembark and begin to walk the beach.
He will first ask you to stand still and close your eyes for several minutes, when you open them again, your eyes will have gotten used to the darkness and you will be ready to begin your walk. That is very important because flashlights scare the turtles and are not allowed.
Day 5 ~ Tortuguero to Arenal ~ (B,L)
Flight to San Jose – (approx. 25 minutes) – This is the fastest way to get back towards the central valley and your next destination, Arenal Volcano.
Private Transfer to Arenal – (approx. 3 hours) – Your private transfer will take you out of the central valley and on towards the town of La Fortuna and Arenal Volcano. Vehicles are equipped with WiFi if you need to catch up on email or send out some pics to family.
Stop for Lunch – (optional) – On the way your driver can make stops for lunch, photos, or shopping.

Day 6 ~ Arenal ~ (B)
Aerial Tram, Zipline Canopy Tour, & Hanging Bridges Combo – Sky Trek starts with a tour in the Sky Tram to reach the top of the Arenal reserve, then begins a tour of adventure full of adrenaline above the treetops, which consists on a system of zip lines, that allows you to observe the rainforest and its landscape from a different perspective, safely in an innovative and different system. The tour includes 8 cross-sectional cables that together have a total length of 1.7 miles with distances from 100 to 2460 feet, and with a maximum height of 660 feet, which exceed the treetops providing a panoramic view of the Arenal volcano and lake.
Day 7 ~ Arenal ~ (B)
Horseback to La Fortuna Waterfall & Indigenous Village – Horseback riding in Costa Rica is a favorite activity among travelers. On this horseback ride to the La Fortuna Waterfall and Replica Indigenous Village, you will see the spectacular Arenal Volcano and dormant Cerro Chato Volcano off in the distance with gorgeous green countryside all around. The horses are sturdy and friendly bred for tourism and are well adapted to the wet, jungle environment of Costa Rica. This is a slow and easy ride up to the waterfall, so it is perfect for first-time riders, families, or people who really want to soak in the surrounding natural beauty. Throughout your 1-hour hike through the rainforest and trails, your guide will point out wildlife, and you will get to see beautiful views of the green countryside and the breathtaking Arenal volcano. When you reach the entrance to the waterfall, you will “park” your horse and head with your guide down to the La Fortuna Waterfall. There are 300 steps to get to the famous La Fortuna Waterfall and 300 to get back up! When you reach the bottom, you’ll have an opportunity to take lots of pictures and swim in the cool waters of one of the largest waterfalls in Arenal. When your ready, take your time as you head back up the staircase where your horses will be waiting to take you back to the ranch. On your way back, you’ll stop by a little thatched-roof cabin to learn about the Maleku, one of Costa Rica’s few remaining indigenous tribes that originates in the Arenal area. You will get to see their traditional handicrafts and learn about their culture and language. You might want to bring a little extra money to buy some authentic Costa Rican souvenirs! Day 8 ~ Arenal ~ Manuel Antonio ~ (B)
Private Transfer to Manuel Antonio- (approx. 5 hours) – We can travel by land or save time by taking a flight into the Manuel Antonio area.
Stop at Tarcoles River – Scenic Stop – If you opt for the ground transfer to see more of the country side there will be stops on the way. One noted stop is the Tarcoles River Bridge, home to many crocodiles and a great place to stretch your legs and get some photos. This is also an important nesting ground area for Scarlet Macaws.

Day 9 ~ Manuel Antonio ~ (B)
